Awards to North Carolina real estate professionals and companies in eligible locations to recognize achievements in the real estate industry and contributions to the development of the region. Awards will be given to individuals and companies in the areas of new construction, economic development, and leadership. Eligible companies must be located in, and individuals must reside in, one of the 16 counties that comprise the Triangle region: Chatham, Durham, Edgecombe, Franklin, Granville, Harnett, Johnston, Lee, Moore, Nash, Orange, Person, Vance, Wake, Warren, and Wilson.

Leadership
  • Pillar Award: This award will honor an individual involved with the Triangle's commercial real estate industry. A winner will be selected based on the individual's community service, real estate industry service and leadership. A nomination should include a summary of the individual's notable achievements, accomplishments and community involvement throughout their professional career, as well as a letter of recommendation.

Economic Development

  • Economic Development Award for New Industry:  Recognition of a company or organization new to the region that contributed to the creation of new jobs and investment in the Triangle region. This award will honor a company that has located or is locating new operations to the Triangle. One winner will be chosen from projects announced since December 1, 2021. Include information about the company's site selection, investments, jobs created and state and local economic incentives committed. The award will honor the company and the local economic developers involved in the deal.
  • Economic Development Award for Existing Industry: Recognition of an existing company or organization in the region that contributed to the creation of new jobs and investment in the Triangle region. This award will honor a company and project that is expanding its operations in the Triangle. One winner will be chosen from projects announced since December 1, 2021. Please include information about the company's site selection, investments, jobs created and state and local economic incentives committed. The award will honor the company and the local economic developers involved in the deal.

Top Development Awards:

These awards recognize the development company or joint-venture partner owners of the nominated project.

  • Top Office Development: Award will go to a development professional and company that have completed construction of an office property.
  • Top Flex Development: Award will go to a development professional and company that have completed construction of a flex property.
  • Top Warehouse Development: Award will go to a development professional and company that have completed construction of a warehouse property.
  • Top Retail Development: Award will go to a development professional and company that completed construction of a retail property.
  • Top Redevelopment: Award will go to a development professional and company that completed construction of a redeveloped office, industrial or retail property. Please do not submit renovation projects.
  • Top Mixed-Use Development: Award will go to a development professional and company that completed construction of a mixed-use property. The project must include a residential element, as well as a commercial space element.
  • Top Hospitality/Entertainment Development: Award goes to a development professional and company that completed construction of a new entertainment or hospitality building project, including hotels, museums, sports facilities and other venues affiliated with the entertainment and hospitality industries.
  • Top Multi-Family Development: Award goes to a development professional and company that completed construction of a new multi-unit apartment or residential condominium property.
  • Top Education Development Project: Award goes to an educational institution and its construction team for a new building project on the campus of a Triangle school or university.
  • Top State/County/Municipal Project: Award goes to a state, county or municipal government agency for a new building project built in the Triangle region. It must be a publicly-owned facility, which would include schools, parks, town halls, libraries and other structures.
  • Top Sustainable Project: Award goes to a development professional and company that has completed construction of a public or private commercial building that meets high standards of green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions.
  • Top Restaurant Project: Award goes to a restaurant owner or franchise owner who has completed construction of a new restaurant inline space or a stand-alone restaurant building in the Triangle region.
  • Top Interior/Space Build-Out Project: Award goes to a property owner and business tenant who have completed construction or renovation of an individual office suite in a new or existing commercial building.

Each development project will be judged based on the project's contributions to the Triangle business community, design, and economic impact on the Triangle business market.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Triangle Business Journal will honor the most accomplished real estate professionals and companies that have attained significant achievement in the industry and contributed to the growth of the Triangle region with their annual SPACE Awards.

Individual Nominee must reside in and company nominee must have a physical office location in one of the 16 counties that comprise the Triangle region: Chatham, Durham, Edgecombe, Franklin, Granville, Harnett, Johnston, Lee, Moore, Nash, Orange, Person, Vance, Wake, Warren and Wilson.

Deals and projects must have been completed or substantially complete between December 1, 2021 and November 30, 2022.

Deadline: Monday, December 5, 2022

Please complete one nomination for each nominee/category. (Please note: A nominee may be moved to a different category by the judges.)

Triangle Business Journal requests that when selected, the most senior executive of the winning company must make every effort to attend the event. TBJ has the right to rescind the recognition if no representative of the company is present to accept the award.
