THE BUY MARKET DEVELOPMENT PROJECT IS DESIGNED TO SUPPORT COUNTY FARMERS BY PROMOTING HIGH-QUALITY FARM PRODUCTS TO COMMUNITY-MINDED CONSUMERS. THE PROJECT WAS STARTED BY THE COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT BOARD. THEY HAVE DEVELOPED A WEB-SITE, FARM MAP AND A " COUNTY-NORTH CAROLINA MOUNTAIN GROWN" LABEL AND LOGO TO IDENTIFY FARM PRODUCTS BEING MARKETED UNDER THIS PROJECT. THE PROJECT HAS HIGHLIGHTED 37 FARMS AND 28 RESTAURANTS AFFILIATED WITH THIS PROGRAM.

This program provides community-based services to meet the daily living, recreational, and educational needs of persons with developmental disabilities. Opportunities available for eligible individuals through include developmental therapy, employment training, day activities, organic farming, and craft production. In the spring of 2013, services were expanded to include a bakery and local catering service to bring in additional revenue to support services provided.
